In August 2020, Barbados took the lead in the Caribbean region with the deploying 33 electric buses and installing all the necessary infrastructure such as charging stations. It started a training program including not just the drivers but technicians, emergencies services personnel and existing partners of the Transport Board. The objective was to prepare the country for a large-scale deployment of the buses fleet.
In this session, we talked with Lynda L. Holder, Chief Operation Officer of the Transport Board, the bus transport provider in Barbados. She presented the electric bus project of Barbados, how it was designed and deployed; as well as the vision of the Transport Board towards the future.
